DAVAO City’s Columbia Football Club (FC) futsal team scored a twin kill at the start of the Governor’s Cup Invitational Indoor Football Championship held in Iloilo City last Friday.

Columbia FC hacked out a 2-1 victory over Cagayan de Oro City’s Primero FC after escaping past Barotac selection, 7-6, in the single round robin format tournament.

The Albert Ryan Lim-coached Columbia FC relied on the services of Rizal Memorial College (RMC) football varsity players team captain Edwin Giganto, Jeffrey Cabalianga, Aldin Tiboron, Abdul Mamadali, Kadaffy Biruar, Michael Pantojan, Renante Bangi, Warren Ravanes, Emardino Polo and Kevin Lam. It is managed by Edward Lam with Ivan Caballero as assistant coach.

Lim, in a Facebook message to Sun.Star Davao, said that this is the first time for Columbia FC to compete in a futsal tournament, adding:”Since it’s our first time, we are not expecting to be champions instead our main objective is just to gain experience with the game of futsal and have fun.”

Lim also said that the key factor for their two straight wins was their teamwork.

Columbia FC was still playing Iloilo City’s CPU squad as of yesterday presstime while they will be pitted with Cebu City’s Erco futsal team by 2 p.m. today. (KRP)
